Date Description

early daysfirst date West, South

If you're in Chelsea, then this is a perfect place for a date, slightly off the beaten track but still well known and popular. Start your date off by meeting at the Lots Road Pub for a drink; it’s an airy pub with a lovely atmosphere, helpful staff and good grub.

Next, take the very short walk to the 606 Club around the corner, which is famous for it’s fantastic live jazz. 606 has buckets of atmosphere, and it's an intimate little spot where you’ll be squished into a crowded audience, so sit back relax and try and be as smooth as the jazz you're listening to! For a club focused on the music, the food is surprisingly good, and there is a great selection on offer.  We have it on good authority that this is a great place for a date, but a word of warning: keep talking to a minimum during the live acts. Could be perfect for a first date if you don't have much to say!!!

Afterwards, you have the King’s Road on your doorstep, and if you want to have a dance, you have a couple of options. Embargos is cheesy club where you will find a mix of 18 year olds and 30 year olds, and is only a two-minute walk from Club 606. If you want a more stylish club (it's all relative...) which is more expensive and trendy (again...all relative!) then head to Mamilanji

GDG tip: The music here really is top quality and you could easily find yourself listening to jazz legends in the making so pay attention! And how about buying your date a CD to remember it by?

Reviews

atmospheric
Last time I was at 606 was years ago (during the days of smoking in clubs) and the atmosphere was fantastic - not to mention the jazz! I'm keen to go back and see whether it's still got the atmosphere minus the smoke!

dark and dingy
Dark, dingy, crowded and just how a Jazz club should be. Check the programme but both times I have been there they have had awesome bands on.

wicked
I had a wicked night in 606 but the only thing I will say is that they were pretty militant about talking! They don't like it if you get too noisy during the sets so make sure you get your chatting over and done with before the music starts! Cool venue though.
