This is a truly special date and for our GDG team member who tried it out, one of the best evening dates in London ever. A big claim we know, but just try it and you will be impressed. Barrafina is a smooth, sleek and romantic resturant serving delicious, sophisticated tapas and right next door Ronnie Scott's is on hand to entertain you with world class jazz - what a combination!
You can't book at Barrafina which you may think a pain but trust us, this actually contributes to the date experience. Meet your date at the venue and whilst waiting for your seat order a glass of champagne. You can then queue around the bar drinking wine, people watching and sampling a few light dishes. When we visited we queued for about 30 minutes before being shown to our bar stools which face the kitchen and are alongside your fellow diners. It is now that the real challenge starts, the food is exceptional and restricting your choices can be hard, but then you can always order more!
Once you've had your fill of tapas, leave the restaurant, turn right and walk the 50 metres down the road to Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club. This legendary venue has hosted some of the jazz greats and even if you're not a jazz connoisseur we guarantee your date will be impressed. We would recommend booking your tickets prior to arrival and the cheaper seats around the side are ideal for cuddling up and enjoying the music. Each table is served and has a small red light creating a relaxed atmosphere and although some may rue the lack of cigar smoke; the music, the great selection of cocktails and the dim lighting all adds to the romance.
Whilst not a cheap date this is ideal for that special occasion or for that person you really want to impress. The question of where to take a girl (or guy!) to impress them has been solved. We cannot recommend this more and if you want to pull out all the stops you can't go wrong!
