Chez Bruce is surely one of the best and most romantic restaurants in London - and the good news? They've changed their long standing reservation policy and you can now book whenever you want, though it might just mean you have to try even harder to get a table! On the bright side, you'll get an even greater satisfaction when you finally do get your booking.
Though it comes with a price tag worthy of its Michelin Star (this certainly isn't one of our credit crunch dates) the location of Chez Bruce does allow a more reasonable price tag than many more central restaurants, and they also have a fairly reasonably priced 3 or 4 course set menu that changes nightly. It's south London location also makes Chez Bruce a more relaxed option than some of it's flashy West End siblings.
Anyway, back to the date... We recommend you start off with a stroll around Wandsworth Common - always romantic whether it's summer or winter. If it's chilly then try and plan to bring something warming, a blanket to cuddle up in or a thermos of mulled wine...
Depending on the time you've booked your dinner, you might need to have a drink first and for that we suggest you try The Hope just a couple of doors down from Chez Bruce and a favourite of Wandsworth locals. All we say is that you resist the urge to nibble on anything and instead save yourself for what what is in store at the restaurant.
We're not going to suggest a bar for you to go to after Chez Bruce as we predict that with suitably full tummies there will be no need... so it's up to you to find your own amorous way home!
