According to reviews, Dans le Noir? is "the closest you can come to a total brain reboot without taking some serious Class A drugs. It's exhilarating, exhausting, and everybody should do it once". So, there you have it. Go and eat in the dark. If you are on a blind date there are some clear advantages here, which I don't need to spell out.
You’ve got to be sure that your date has a degree of adventurous spirit before arranging this – best to run the concept by them first... Arrange to meet at the Zetter Hotel (also a great place for Sunday brunch) for a drink.
After an initial sharpener, walk around the corner to Clerkenwell Green, where you will find (having pre-booked it) “Dans Le Noir” for dinner. The concept is that it is a restaurant in the dark, where the waiters are all blind or partially sighted and you experience life from their angle. It is a very interesting experience. You order your meal on arrival by choosing from the meat, fish, veggie or “all of the above” options and then wait in the bar. You will be led to your table by your waiter and you then have a three course meal in pitch darkness – no shards of light and no scope for getting your bearings. After chatting to your neighbours (as you sit on long benches) and no doubt squeezing in a cheeky snog (because nobody can see you), you are led out to pay.
Afterwards, as you will definitely need to dissect the experience, head over the road to Match Bar. They opened because they wanted to ‘inspire a new drinking culture where the quality of the ingredients reigned and the craft of the bartender was recognised.’ Although this may seem like a marketing ploy, it definitely works, the drinks are delicious and the bar staff mix fantastic cocktails.

| strange, but great! Loved this one. Totally out of the ordinary and very weird. My date thought it was wonderful, although he and I both felt very disorientated when we came out.This is one for the braver daters but the experience gave us lots to talk about.
