European food, outdoors, candlelight... anyone would think you were on the Riviera. Well Metro is the closest thing to it in Clapham! A fabulously intimate romantic venue and great for a Sunday lunch date.
Don't let the fact that Metro was the site of one of the GDG teams dullest ever dates put you off... you really can't blame the restaurant, more the friend who set them up. In fact, the excellent food and wine was the highlight of that evening! Anyway, we digress...
Metro is a fantastic restaurant the whole year round, but it's especially good in the summer when they fill the courtyard to the rear of the restaurant with candle-laden tables. A seriously romantic spot which is perfect for an early date, a special occasion or just some much needed mid-week romance once the kids are in bed!
After you have eaten and had a few drinks, we suggest you join the other Sunday strollers and go for a walk on Clapham Common, this could be the perfect moment to try instigating the casual hand hold or arm slung over shoulder manoeuvre...
Metro is a hidden gem amidst the chain restaurants that Clapham High Street does so well - it comes highly recommened by the Great Date Guide.

| **** A really lovely evening spent in the secret garden, we had planned to go on to the Clapham picture house after dinner, but we were so taken with the tranquil and romantic setting that we never made it and spent the whole evening here instead!
