We suggest you start with a cocktail or two in Beach Blanket Babylon. It's just down the road from El Pirata Detapas and is the ideal place to launch any date. Housed in an old Georgian mansion it blends opulence and glamour with classic Notting Hill boho chic - and the drinks are pretty good too!
Onto the main event, El Pirata Detapas is found just a short stroll away down the incredibly stylish Westbourne Grove. Invariably crammed with tables of animated diners, deep in conversation over sumptuous tapas and a bottle of Rioja, this place has quickly become a local's favourite (so please make sure you've booked ahead!).
The menu is exciting and varied, but if like me you’d rather talk to your date than read, the tasting menu from £20 a head is a fantastic way to sample the fare. Whatever you choose, I guarantee your food will be spectacular, with each new plate more delicious than the last. Ideal then that because this is tapas, you'll be served plate after plate after plate!
The Spanish staff couldn’t be more helpful, pre-empting your every whim and giving an authenticity to the place that will have you transported to Madrid in minutes.
