Shochu is a traditional Japanese drink, thought to have many properties beneficial to your health. Indeed, a former Guiness Book of Records holder drank Shochu as part of his daily regime and lived to 120! Need we say more? Well, it's also a cracking bar and restaurant on Charlotte Street.
Boys, for this seriously smooth date, we suggest a quick trip to Sharps on Charlotte Street pre-date. This iconic New York brand is valiantly attempting to get the British male looking good! Once the boys have been preened and prepped why not arrange to meet at the Charlotte Street Hotel? This stylish hotel, designed by Kit Kemp, is the ideal place to meet and will set the tone for a glamorous and spoiling date. Have a drink and maybe even a nibble at the gorgeous bar, Oscar, which in summer opens out onto a buzzing Charlotte Street. For another occasion, this is also an excellent restaurant, but for this particular date we're ushering you on to Shochu Lounge.
Sitting underneath its award-winning parent Roka, the Shochu Lounge is a dark, sexy bar serving the full menu from upstairs, along with its delicious trademark cocktails. If you've never tried Shochu based drinks before then they are worth the visit alone. Add to that an intimate atmosphere and amazing Japanese food and you are in for a treat. Just one word of warning: the lounge is sleek, sexy and very relaxed, but there are reports of some rather relaxed service too. If you're someone who doesn't like to be kept waiting, the original restaurant upstairs, Roka, may suit you better.
If the date is going well then it's a short stroll into Soho and its mass of late night bars where you can continue the fun. Alternatively, you already know where the Charlotte Street Hotel is...

| great but pricey We kicked off with a couple of drinks in lancashire court (behind new bond street) and then headed to Shochu. It's a great venue, quite dark and intimate, but fairly buzzy too. Cocktails were great and the food is delicious, but quite pricey. Don't go if you're very hungry! Afterwards we went to milk & honey for a couple more drinks. Recommended!
