Yes it's true, The Ledbury is so romantic that you might just find yourself one one knee sooner than expected! It's also been awarded not one but TWO Michelin stars for its modern European cuisine and came first in Restaurant Magazine's top 100 restaurant awards 2010. Quite some accolade we think you'll agree… 

This then is a restaurant for a special occasion (or a seriously flash first date if that's your style…!). As a result we think you should forget about finding a bar beforehand and instead just settle in for the full experience. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed despite it's formal appearance, the food and wine incredible and the decor elegant and stylish. What's more in the summer there are super chic street-side tables for a spot of 'let's pretend we're abroad' al fresco dining. Perfect. 

If you're still standing after your gastronomic feast, we've got a few suggestions for 'afters', depending on the mood you're in. If you want to stick to Notting Hill chic then head to The Lonsdale or Beach Blanket Babylon for some after dinner cocktails. If however it's the boho live music scene you'd like to delve into post-pudding, then try The Tabernacle just along the road. Finally if you want to up-end the experience totally, go for one of the jaw dropping cocktails at 60's themed, 'trailer park-esq' Trailer Happiness on Portobello Road and shake the whole thing up a bit!

Lunch I've been here for lunch and I have to say it was one of the best meals I've ever had in London. I wasn't really sure what all the fuss about Michelin stars was about... now I know!
