The London Eye

Simple but effective. Not to be used as a first date as there is nowhere to run if things aren't going well!

A modern classic, it opened in 2000, and is established as an iconic London landmark. It's the way to see the city by air and provides awe-inspiring views across the capital. The bonus is, you can spend some 'quality time' with your date and look at the fantastic views at the same time.

Meet in one of the many Southbank bars and wander together along the riverside taking in the skaters under the National Theatre or flicking through the second-hand books from the River Walk stores. When you're ready, you can board your 30 minute 'flight'. It is a unique experience: you will reach heights of 135 metres and you really will feel on top of the world. If you're feeling particularly flush and the occasion warrants it why not book your own capsule or go for the champagne flight? All the details can be found at the London Eye website.
When your flight finishes, and you still want to look at the London skyline, you should continue the date with cocktails in the OXO Tower, wander around the bars in the Waterloo Quarter or for something a little different, head to the London Aquarium. In summary this is a date that has a little of everything and can be pitched at all levels from the second 'get to know you' date to the very special 'I love you' occasion.

 | Romantic! My boyfriend took me on a Champagne flight on Valentine's day - a total surprise and really romantic. I would definitely recommend it to anyone else looking to impress their girlfriend. The best Valentine's day I've had in years!
