The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden is a stunning London venue. Even if you are not a seasoned ballet or opera buff, you've got to give it a try. It's a great experience and one that will definitely impress (could Julia Roberts and Richard Gere be wrong?)
Meet your date beforehand for drinks in the amazing glass-roofed Paul Hamlyn Hall in the Opera House, or enjoy the London skyline from the Amphitheatre Restaurant Terrace overlooking Covent Garden Piazza. If you want a to have something to eat then why not dine in the Balconies Restaurant in the Paul Hamlyn Hall, or the elegant Crush Room or Amphitheatre Bar?
If multiple venues are more your style then some pre performance drinks on the balcony at Chez Gerard would be a great start. The Savoy Hotel is also just down the road (recently reopened after a major refurb) and is a great place to meet after work for a quick drink. For dinner, try La Deuxieme on Long Acre before you get there. It's elegant and stylish in keeping with the tone of the date, but without the opera house prices.
If you're going all out to impress, do a 'Pretty Woman' and book a box. If you're not made of money however, we love the lower of the amphitheatre seats which give you a fabulous view of the whole opera house. It really is 'up in the gods' and we think they're the best seats in the house (and some of the cheapest!).
Heady with romance after the last curtain call, head out on to the cobbles of Covent Garden Piazza and continue the evening with a couple more drinks and a post-morem of the performance.
For the closing scene - "Boy Back in Office on Monday Morning" have a bunch of seasonal fresh flowers sent to your date's office. You're bound to get rave reviews!

| Fantastic! I can't recommend this enough! The Opera House is a really fantastic venue. My boyfriend took me to see the ballet "Onegin" and it totally blew me away - it was brilliant! We met for drinks at Chez Gerard first which was perfect as it was a sunny evening... He'd also pre-ordered champagne and sandwiches for the interval which was very impressive.
