Classic Inbetweener

Romance is in the air at all times of day and we wouldn't be doing a thorough job if we didn't include a few brunch dates in our line up. Perfect for an early date or just a catch up if busy schedules have kept you and your significant other apart all week. In fact, why not suggest it as a regular occurrence if early brunch-love blossoms? We also thoroughly encourage you to try brunch as a continuation of a great date from the night before...

The Pantry  If you live in Wandsworth you'll love the Pantry on Old York Road already but if by some slim chance you haven't tried it yet then do - immediately. Great coffee's, sandwiches and as a real brunch treat introduce your date to the best sausage sandwich in London!

Harrisons  One of our evening date recommendations this restaurant and bar in Balham also specializes in breakfast and brunch. If you're recovering from the night before (and trying to hide it) they have a mean Full English, or be worthy with a simple grapefruit or yoghurt pot. There's something to suit every pallet so you don't have to feel self conscious while you get to know each other.

Le Pain au Quotidien  There are branches of this Belgian bakery all over London but our favourite is the one on Marlybone High Street. Keep it simple with a soft boiled egg, with bread this delicious why complicate things? Continue the date if the mood takes you with a potter up the high street  hand in hand or a wander up to Regents Park.

The Bruncheon Club  We introduced you to this cure for the morning after the night before in our feature on underground restaurants, The Bruncheon Club in Hackney. The two hosts Greg and Maya will treat you to a delicious brunch for £12 on a Sunday. You'll get the choice of two sittings 11am and 2pm but the emphasis here is on casual relaxation. Though they are pretty regular these brunches are not every Sunday so make sure you check in advance if they have one coming up thebruncheonclub@googlemail.com

The Breakfast Club  No not the 1980's film (though why not follow this date up with a screening of this classic (The Breakfast Club) snuggled up on the sofa at home!) we're talking the Soho based cafe. They also have branches in Angel and Hoxton each with its little quirks.. This year they were runners up for Best Breakfast in the Observer food monthly awards, a great accolade we reckon, with special mention to their chorizo hash browns so make sure you give them a try.

The Wolseley  Who knew there were so many different ways to do eggs for breakfast? The Wolseley that's who! As ever we've left the best till last, come here for a special occasion brunch. The Breakfast Club may have been the runner up but even they admit they didn't mind coming second to this posh St James' eatery. As you sit in the beautiful interior you and eat delicious Omelette Arnold Benette you will find it hard to believe that it used to be a car showroom...
