Perfect Picnic Hampers!

If you're familiar with the GDG you'll know that we love a picnic. Spring, summer, autumn, winter it makes no difference to us - a picnic is still one of the greatest dates, as long as it's carried off with a bit of flare!
We've already given you a helping hand with our favourite picnic spots (here) but now we're going to give you a bit of a heads up on the perfect hamper... Our advice would always be to try and sort out the food and drink yourself (effort and thought count for more than think) but if your idea of a romantic picnic is opening up a plastic shopping bag to reveal the contents of the reduced items shelf then perhaps you should seek assistance...
Why not try an afternoon picnic at the weekend, leaving the evening open for other options if things go well? Go for something casual but delicious like some gelato and Italian wine from Gelupo, the award winning Soho gelataria. Or, if old school English is more your thing then it's got to be the hamper from the Langham Hotel, the birthpalce of afternoon tea - it's impressive stuff.
If you're after a little more on your paper plate then we've got some great options for lunch/supper picnics. First up is the newly launched Mount Street Deli hamper. Chose what you want to include from the delicous Anglo/Italian food on offer and they'll put the hamper together for you. As a member of the Caprice Holdings group (think the Ivy and Scott's) this hamper comes with impecible credentials - just like you!
Perhaps you want to add a twist to a traditional picnic, then how about turning Japanese? Celebrated restaurant Nobu offers the Bento Box and Deluxe Bento Box giving you an al fresco option of enjoying their Michelin starred food.
Lastly we'd suggset turning to Albion to rescue you from your picnic panic. Admitedly you'll need to persuade your date to help you carry it, but this really is the king of hampers! Containing enough food for up to four people (or two greedy lovebirds?!) the Albion hamper specialises in food from the British Isles. They'll even lend you plates, cutlery, glasses and napkins if you ask nicely (i.e. put down a deposit).
So, what are you waiting for? Armed with a list of great picnic spots and a selection of hampers to satisfy even the fussiest of dates, we feel you're ready to head out into the green spaces of London and embark on your very own al fresco adventure!
