The Tricycle Theatre

We have a new love, and it's theatre shaped. Actually, it's theatre, cafe, gallery and cinema shaped, and it's got 'Great Date' written all over it.

Located on Kilburn High Street, The Tricycle Theatre is famed for its political and often controversial work, perhaps most notably for its 'Tribunal Plays' which are based on reconstructions of public enquiries and have been broadcast around the globe (for example; The Stephen Lawrence Enquiry - The Colour of Justice, and Justifying War - Scenes from the Hutton Enquiry)

But it's not just cutting edge political drama that this gem of a theatre excels in, and with it's wonderfully contemporary cafe and bar (whose drinks, importantly, can be taken into the theatre or cinema with you), this is a hot spot for a date whatever your theatrical tastes.

ON RIGHT NOW - MIDSUMMER [a play with songs] by David Greig & Gordon McIntyre

A sell out hit at the Edinburgh Festival, this hilarious, heart-warming and exhilarating play is absolutely perfect for a date.

'It's Midsummer's weekend in Edinburgh. It's raining. Two thirty-somethings are sitting in a New Town bar. He's a failing car salesman on the fringes of the city's underworld and she's a high-powered divorce lawyer with a taste for other people's husbands. She's out of his league and he's not her type at all...'

MIDSUMMER is the story of Bob and Helena and a great lost weekend of bridge-burning, car chasing, wedding bust-ups, bondage miscalculations, midnight trysts and horrible, hungover, self-loating misery.

"Exhilarating… You float out laughing as if you've just swallowed sunshine on a spoon." The Guardian

"A proper romantic comedy… Very special indeed" Evening Standard

Midsummer
