Top 5 Last Minute Dates

Let's face it, we're not all born organisers, and sometimes a 'last minute' situation just can't be helped. So, to help you turn your organisational disaster into a dating triumph, we've come up with some of our favourite 'last minute' options, all of which can be arranged in the final hours before a date and most of which don't require a big spend. Most importantly, they're all incredibly romantic and will win you a sack load of brownie points for minimal effort!

1) Indoor Picnic

Not to be ridiculed until you’ve tried it, the indoor picnic makes a truly romantic date. Armed with blankets, cushions and all your favourite treats, set up camp on your sitting room floor, in the conservatory beneath the stars, or in your garden greenhouse! If you’ve got a friendly security guard at work, perhaps even the top of a city skyscraper might be possible. Add music, flowers, candles and champagne and the scene is set.

2) Last minute hotel booking

See how exciting spontaneity can be by making a last minute hotel reservation and whisking your partner off for a night of passion. You might find a great last minute deal at an expensive hotel, but even your local B&B can provide you with a night of peaceful seclusion and guarantee you a blissful escape.

3) Go retro

There’s a lot to be said for sticking to the classics, and the cinema date is one of the all time greats. It’s almost never too late to get hold of tickets and the old-school romance never fails to charm (subject to your choice of film…!). We'd recommend a 'boutique-style' cinema if possible, such as The Electric in Notting Hill, or The Ritzy in Brixton. Alternatively you could try a night at a bowling alley. Yes, the shoes aren’t the best, but we guarantee you’ll have a giggle and thoroughly enjoy yourselves.

4) Garden Camping

One for the hardy types amongst you, this wonderful date brings all the pleasures of a night under the stars with the added comforts of your own soft bedding and a nice hot shower in the morning! To add a bit of sparkle, decorate your garden with pretty fairy lights. Then make a fire (or use your BBQ) and toast marshmallows before retiring to your peaceful canvas dwelling.

5) Bicycle ride

For you real romantics, take the day off work, dust down your bicycles (or grab yourself a 'Boris Bike') and head out on an exhilarating adventure. Whatever your chosen route, the fresh air, inspiring scenery and simplicity of it all can’t fail to invigorate. Stop half way for a well deserved hearty lunch and congratulate yourselves for being such fine explorers.
